St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Reactor Vessel Internals and Thermal Shield; Plant Recover Pro ram In a meeting on April 12, 1983, Florida Power and Light Company provided you with a preliminary summary of the condition of the St. Lucie No, 1 reactor vessel internals, including the thermal shield and associated components.
At that meeting, Florida Power and Light Company expressed its genuine interest in resolving the situation in a manner that wiD adequately and aggressively address appropriate safety concerns related to the condition as well as plant recovery.
It is in that
- interest, and as discussed with you in a phone conversation on April 13, 1983, that Florida Power and Light Company will provide the following information for your r eview, prior to startup of St. Lucie No. 1:
A.
Reactor Vessel Internals and Thermal Shield inspection results.
B.
Thermal Shield failure mode analysis as applicable to St. Lucie No. 1.
C.
St. Lucie No. 1 plant recovery plan (to be provided as soon as possible in the recover y).
D.
Safety Assessment (to include),
(1)
Reactor vessel interactions and effects (i.e.,
the potential for increased reactor vessel embrittlement as a result of thermal shield removal).
(2)
Possible effects on fuel performance due to loose parts.
(3)
Loose Parts Monitor history and associated evaluations conducted.
