Dear Mr. Ei senhut:
Re:
St.
Lucie Unit I Docket No.
50-335 Stretch Power A
lication In the course of the review of our Stretch Power Application the NRC staff has requested that two previously analyzed events be reevaluated by Florida Power 8 Light to -include the assump-tion o'f the following additional failure mechanisms:
I)
- 7.2.3 Loss of All Non-Emergency A-C Power Event; additional assumption required
- worst single active failure for this event.
2)
- 7.3.4 Seized Rotor Event; additional assumptions r equi red - loss of offsi te power and worst single active failure for this event.
(* numbering system used in Stretch Power Application)
Based on a reexamination of the analyses already submitted for Stretch Power it is FPLs position that the results on an ana-
. lysis of these postulated events that assumes the additional failure mechanisms discussed above will continue to satisfy the acceptance criteria.
- However, we will reevaluate the seized Rotor and Loss of All Non-Emergency A-C Power events with these additional assumptions to confirm this position and submit the results within 6 months of the NRC approval of the Stretch Power Application.
Very truly yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President Advanced Systems and Technology REU/DME/ah poiS It.
