Dear Mr. Ei senhut:

Re:

St.

Lucie Unit I Docket No.

50-335 Stretch Power A

lication In the course of the review of our Stretch Power Application the NRC staff has requested that two previously analyzed events be reevaluated by Florida Power 8 Light to -include the assump-tion o'f the following additional failure mechanisms:

I)

  • 7.2.3 Loss of All Non-Emergency A-C Power Event; additional assumption required

- worst single active failure for this event.

2)

  • 7.3.4 Seized Rotor Event; additional assumptions r equi red - loss of offsi te power and worst single active failure for this event.

(* numbering system used in Stretch Power Application)

Based on a reexamination of the analyses already submitted for Stretch Power it is FPLs position that the results on an ana-

. lysis of these postulated events that assumes the additional failure mechanisms discussed above will continue to satisfy the acceptance criteria.

However, we will reevaluate the seized Rotor and Loss of All Non-Emergency A-C Power events with these additional assumptions to confirm this position and submit the results within 6 months of the NRC approval of the Stretch Power Application.

Very truly yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President Advanced Systems and Technology REU/DME/ah poiS It.
