A containment purge valve torque and stress analysis has been completed by Henry Pratt
- Company, the valve manufacturer.
Based on the conservative
- analysis, the 48-i,nch containment purge valves are adequate and operable under DBA-LOCA conditions when the valve disc opening angle is limited to 35 degrees.
The same conclusion applies to the 54-inch containment purge valves when the valve disc opening is limited to 30 degrees.
Modificiations to limit the valve disc openings on Uni.t 3 have been completed.
Modifications to limit the valve disc openi ngs on Unit 4 will be compl'eted during the current refueling outage.
With this submittal. Florida Power 8 Light Company has provided all the information and evaluations requested to justify contai nment purging during normal operations.
The effect of purgi ng on ECCS performance, the evaluation of radiological consequences, the evaluation of instrumentation and control ci rcuit designs, and the valves' ntegrity against the dynamic forces of a DBA-LOCA have been presented.
