Re:
Turkey Point Units 3 and 4
c Docket Nos.
50-250 and 50-251 Inservice Ins ection Period Your letter of April 26, 1976 called attention to the fact that the inservice inspection testing requirements for ASME Code Class 1, 2, and 3 components were changed by a revision to 10 CFR Part 50.55a published on February 27, 1976.
For Turkey Point Units 3 and 4, the provision's of the revised regulation become effective after September 1, 1976, at the start of the next regular 40 month inspection period.
The next 40 month inspection period after September 1,
1976 begins on January 7,
1977 for Unit 4 and August 14, 1979 for Unit 3.
Also, the revised regulation requires that any request, for a Technical Specification amendment be submitted at least six months before the start of the inspection period during which the revised provisions become applicable.
We are currently reviewing the appropriate section of the ASME Code to determine what conflicts exist between Code requirements and the Turkey Point Technical Specifications.
Because of the magnitude of the Unit 4 review, we propose to submit our amendment request by September 1, 1976.
The Unit 3 amendment request will be submitted by February 14, 1979.
Very truly yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President REU/MAS/cpc cc:
Mr. Norman C. Moseley Jack R.
