Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-266, 50-301 Notice of Closing Related to License Transfer For Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 Re: NRC Order Approving Transfer of Licenses and Conforming Amendments Relating to Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, dated July 31, 2007 In the above-referenced Order, the NRC approved the transfer of the interests of Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPCO) and the operating authority of Nuclear Management Company (NMC) under Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-24 and DPR-27 for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, to FPL Energy Point Beach, LLC (FPLE-PB). The Order directed that FPLE-PB inform the Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation in writing of the date of the closing of the Point Beach sale no later than 5 business days prior to the closing of the sale and transfer of the licenses.

In accordance with the Order, this letter provides notice that the closing for the Point Beach sale is targeted to occur on September 28, 2007, pending receipt of written orders approving the sale from the Public Service Commissions of Wisconsin and Michigan, and satisfaction of all of the conditions to closing set forth in the Asset Sale Agreement among WEPCO, FPLE-PB, and FPL Group Capital, Inc. It is requested that the applicable conforming license amendments for this transfer be issued by the NRC and made effective as of the date of the transfer. NMC and FPLE-PB will keep the NRC informed of any developments that have an impact on the schedule for the closing.
