JUN202003 IJN 2 0 FI=PL L-2003-158 10 CFR 50.55a U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D. C. 20555 Re: Turkey Point Unit 4 Docket No. 50-251 Inservice Inspection Program, Third 10-Year Interval, Third Period Examination Schedule For Remaining RCS Components The purpose of this letter is to document our discussion of June 12, 2003 with NRC Staff on the subject of examinations necessary to be completed for the third 10-Year interval (4/15/1994 to 4/14/2004) of the Florida Power & Light (FPL) Turkey Point Unit 4 ISI Program.

FPL presented the following plan for completion of large scope components scheduled to be examined in the third period of the third interval:

Turkey Point Unit 4 has several large Reactor Coolant, Main Feedwater, Pressurizer and Main Steam System components remaining to complete the third ten-year Inservice Inspection (ISI)

Program. The components involved are all large scope and manpower intensive for access and examination. To meet the station's goals and to schedule this work in an effective manner consistent with ALARA principles, FPL is extending the third period of the third interval by eleven months, as allowed by IWA-2430(d). In doing so we will be dividing the remaining large components between the Fall 2003 outage and the Spring 2005 outage. Only the components shown scheduled for the Spring 2005 outage are affected by this extension. A matrix is attached listing the subject components and the scheduled examination dates for each. The Fourth Inspection Interval will not be modified by this action.
