Florida Power & Light Company, 6501 South Ocean Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 February 18, 2002 L-2002-035 FPL 10 CFR 2 10 CFR 50 10 CFR 51 10 CFR 54 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Re: St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-335 and 50-389 Additional Copies of Application for Renewed Operatinq Licenses By letter L-2001-258 dated November 29, 2001, Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) applied for the renewal of the Operating Licenses for St. Lucie Units 1 and 2, pursuant to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations set forth in 10 CFR 50, 51 and 54.

An original and thirteen copies of the St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 Application for Renewed Operating Licenses (Application) were provided to the NRC. The original and each copy of the Application included an environmental report entitled "Applicant's Environmental Report

- Operating License Renewal Stage." One copy of the Application was provided to the NRC Regional Administrator - Region II and one courtesy copy of the Application was provided to the NRC Senior Resident Inspector for St. Lucie. Twenty-six additional copies of the Applicant's Environmental Report - Operating License Renewal Stage were also provided. All copies discussed above were paper copies. In addition, one electronic copy, compact disc - read only memory format (CD) was provided.

By FPL letter L-2001-269 dated December 20, 2001, forty additional CD copies of the Application (including the Applicant's Environmental Report - Operating License Renewal Stage) were provided to the NRC Staff, one CD copy of the Application to the NRC Regional Administrator - Region II, and one CD copy to the NRC Senior Resident for St.

Lucie.

As enclosures to this letter, one CD copy of the Application (including the Applicant's Environmental Report - Operating License Renewal Stage) is being provided to each of the following per 10 CFR 2.101: Florida Attorney General; Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Control; Florida Division of Emergency Preparedness; County Administrator - St. Lucie County; and Martin County Radiological Emergency Planning Administrator. FPL has contacted each of these recipients and determined that a CD copy of the Application is acceptable.

S Application for Renewed Operating Licenses 0 Environmental Report - Operating License Renewal Stage S Reference Documents (not considered part of the application)

- License Renewal Boundary Drawings (originally transmitted in hard copy form by FPL letter No. L-2001-244, dated November 29, 2001)

- St. Lucie Units I and 2 Updated FSAR, Revisions 18 and 13 respectively By letter dated January 24, 2002, the NRC notified FPL that the Application previously submitted contains sufficient information that is acceptable for docketing. Accordingly, the copies of the Application provided by L-2001-258, L-2001-269, and this letter satisfy the requirements of 10 CFR 2.101 (a)(3), 50.4(b)(2), 50.30(a), and 51.55(a).
