Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-440, License No. NPF-58 Notice of Intent to Submit License Renewal Application By letter dated November 27, 2018 [Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18331A155], the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) was notified that the License Renewal Application (LRA) for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 1 (PNPP) would no longer be submitted due to planned permanent cessation of power operations at PNPP. In a subsequent letter dated July 26, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19207A097), the NRC was notified that the "Certification of Permanent Cessation of Power Operations for PNPP was withdrawn.
As requested by the NRC in Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06, Importance of Giving NRC Advance Notice of Intent To Pursue License Renewal, Energy Harbor Nuclear Corp. hereby submits new schedule information to apply for license renewal for PNPP.
The application is now scheduled to be submitted in the third quarter of 2023. Energy Harbor Nuclear Corp. intends to file a request for exemption from 10 CFR 2.109(b) as well as request permission to submit the LRA for PNPP no later than three years prior to the expiration of the stations operating license. This schedule is provided for NRC use in planning the PNPP License Renewal Application reviews.
