PROGRAM SCOPE This was an unannounced, limited-scope inspection of a large non-destructive testing company authorized to use radioactive material for industrial radiography at numerous field stations and at temporary job sites throughout NRC jurisdiction. The scope of this inspection was limited to a review of the licensee's safety and security measures for their storage location in Evansville, Indian PERFORMANCE OBSERVATIONS The inspector toured the licensee's storage location to observe material security, postings, and any other potential hazards to the material. The inspector also performed independent surveys of the storage facility and did not identify any dose rates that could result in members of the public exceeding dose limits. The inspector interviewed the radiographer with respect to the handling of exposure devices, including receipt and transportation, and the performance of radiographic operations. The inspector also interviewed the radiographer with respect to the licensee's follow-up actions to a source detachment event the radiographer was involved with in August 2018, including licensee communications and licensee maintenance procedures. The inspector determined that the radiographer was knowledgeable of the licensee's follow-up actions and maintenance practices and procedures.
