ADJ0 URN The subcommittee focused attention on the foundation design, that is, short versus long pile design. The purpose of the meeting was to gather facts to be reported to the full ACRS committee on July 12, 1979.
The licensee's presentation included technical data to show that the proposed short pile design would satisfy original PSAR design criteria / requirements.
The NRC staff summary stated that densific. ion of piling and driving criteria required additional attention by NRR/NIPSCo. Piles which break through and which would not meet the required blow counts should be adequately covered.
Bracing in 3reas to be excavated was also considered an open item. Other matters to be followed up by NRR were factors of safety, corrosion, up lift and licensee analysis of the pinned or fixed effect.
