TChandrasekaran RGilbert Subject: Regulatory Guide 1.52 - Design, Testing, and Maintenance Criteria for Post Accident Engineered-Safety-Feature Atmosphere Cleanup System Air Filtration and Adsorption Units of Light-Water-Cooled Nuclear Power Plants - Revision 0 In Revision 24 to Shoreham's FSAR, certain deviations from positions in Regulatory Guida 1.52 Rev. O in the design of the Control Room Air Con-System (g (CRAC) system and the Reactor Building Standby Ventilation ditionin RBSYS) were highlighted.
In addition to the deviations noted in Revision 24 to the FSAR, systems inspections conducted by NRC staff members have identified other design items for the CRAC and the RBSYS which appear to be deviations from the positions of Regulatory Guide 1.52.
The design of the CRAC and the RBSVS and the deviations from the positions in Regula-tory Guide 1.52 as stated in FSAR Revision 24 are acceptable to the staff.
However, in light of the additional de/iations discovered during systems inspections conducted by the NRC staff, the review of the CRAC and the RBSVS needs to be reopened.
To expeditiously close out the review of the CRAC and the R8SYS, it is requested that you submit for staff review all known deviations from the positions of Regulatory Guide 1.52 Rev. O especially those identified in Inspection Reports 50-322/80-04 dated April 17,1980 and 50/322/80-06 dated May 19, 1980, and provide your justification for these additional deviations.
