RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE - NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION SECURITY INSPECTION REPORT NO. 05000225/2022202

Dear Dr. Ji:

From December 13-14, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a security inspection at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute research reactor. The inspection included a review of activities authorized for your facility. The enclosed report documents the inspection results which were discussed on December 14, 2022, with you, members of your staff, Chris Fiore, Emergency Management and Clery Compliance Officer, Ginger Caravalho, Radiation Safety Officer, and Jen Kazmierczak, Director, Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management.

The inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to the common defense and security, compliance with the Commissions rules and regulations, and compliance with the conditions of your license. The inspector reviewed your physical security plan, observed the physical security features at your facility, and interviewed personnel. Based on the results of this inspection, no security concerns or non-compliance with NRC requirements were identified.

No response to this letter is required.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System, accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
