5.
Disposition of Materials a.
This preliminary inspection revealed that all LPR fuel has been shipped to SR00. Three shipments were made in November 1981 for a total of 25 l
f r1 elements, utilizing a Battelle Columbus Laboratories cask,

Forms 741, Nuclear Materials Transaction Reports were prepared by the licensee and these were reviewed to verify disposal of all LPR fuels.
Form 741s, Nuclear Material Transaction Reports and licensee internal records were reviewed to determine that all neutron sources possessed under the LPR license number R-47 had been transferred to authorized recipients off-site or to the B&W License No. SNM-778. All sources had been transferred.

All major activated components have been removed from the LPR and are l
being held in secured storage pending shipment to an authorized waste l
disposal site.
The remaining radioactivity in the LPR consists of activation products (Eu-152) in the concrete pool walls, metal activa-tion products (primarily Co-60) the majority of which is located in the 8 inch beam port on the interior end of the ports and contaminated l

resins in the LPR water clean-up system. Removal of activation pro-ducts is continuing and final verification of the absence of license-able material could not be completed at the time of this inspection.
6.
Confirmatory Survey a.
Inspection of licensee records of surveys and decontamination efforts revealed that conscientious efforts have been made, and are continuing, l
to eliminate residual radioactivity. Upon completion by the licensee of dismantling, decontamination and final survey of the LPR, a verifi-cation survey will be performed.
b.
At the time of this inspection samples were obtained of a core drilling from the interior of the LPR pool wall, dust samples from the floor of the pool, smears adjacent to the pool, breathing zone air sample and a liquid waste hold up tank sample for analysis in Region II and compa-rison with licensee analysis results.
The results will be included with all other data in the final close-out inspection report.
