This inspection included in-office review of records and a temporary job site inspection for a non-destructive testing company authorized by the State of Iowa to use lridium-192 (lr-192) for industrial radiography at temporary job sites within Iowa jurisdiction. The licensee conducted these activities at temporary job sites in NRC jurisdiction under the terms of a reciprocity request filed in January of 2025 for calendar year 2025 and amended as needed throughout the year. In office review of records was conducted between 02/10/2025 and 04/23/202 The scope of this inspection included an evaluation of the licensee's activities at a TJS in Kansas City, Missouri, on 04/16/2025. During the TJS inspection, one radiographer and one radiography assistant performed a series of shots to evaluate pipe welds using a radiographic device (camera) as described on the NRC Form 241 and the State of Iowa license. During the TJS inspection, the inspector observed licensee staff arrive on site and check in with site management; perform daily checks on the radiographic equipment; verify calibration dates and proper operation for survey meters, alarming ratemeters, and direct-read dosimeters; remove the camera from the vehicle; place labeled cones at appropriate locations to establish radiation and high radiation areas; set up the camera; take multiple shots; maintain surveillance of the camera at all times; control the area during and between shots; challenge an individual approaching the marked radiation area; survey the boundaries during shots; survey the guide tube of the camera after each shot; return the camera to shielded and secured storage; survey the vehicle; check the direct-read dosimeters after completing work; develop and evaluate film; and fill out use log/shipping paperwork to return the camera to the permanent storage site. Licensee staff wore required dosimetry and appropriate personal protective equipment for the job site. Interviews with the radiographer and radiography assistant indicated adequate knowledge of radiation safety concepts and procedure Select record were reviewed including the following: annual program reviews, dosimetry, GPS coordinates of radiography vehicles, NRC Form 241s, sealed source leak tests, sealed source inventory, shipping papers, training, and use log NRC FORM 592M (10-04-2022)
