This letter provides notification of a deviation from the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP) guidelines for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS). This is a deviation from the performance of inspection in accordance with the guidance provided in BWRVIP-41, Revision 3, "BWR Vessel and Internals Project, BWR Jet Pump Assembly Inspection and Flaw Evaluation Guidelines," (EPRI Report 1021000, September 2010).
This is a deviation from a "needed" element of the BWRVIP program to perform inspections in accordance with the guidance of BWRVIP-41, Revision 3. This document provides the requirement for periodic inspection of the primary riser brace leaf to vessel pad weld (RB-1 locations). The execution of this inspection requirement was not completed within the required periodicity. The missed inspection requirement has been scheduled to be completed at the next available opportunity, Refueling Outage 21 (2018).
The deviation from BWRVIP-41, Revision 3, guidelines has been reviewed and approved in accordance with Entergy procedures and NEI 03-08 guidance. This is a notification of deviation only and no action is being requested from the NRC.
The attachment to this letter provides the regulatory commitment made in this submittal.
