Title | Loss of Assessment Capability Due to Non-Functional Seismic Monitor Laptop |
Event Description | Clinton Power Station (CPS) has completed a review of the station seismic monitor performance. The CPS seismic monitor laptop is currently operable; however, this review identified 3 times in the last 3 years that the seismic monitoring laptop was declared non-functional such that the capability to perform an EAL assessment in accordance with the Radiological Emergency Plan Annex would be adversely impacted. A loss of the seismic laptop computer prevents active seismic data from processing through the central recording unit and will not alarm in the main control room.
The seismic monitor laptop became non-functional and unresponsive on the following dates: 1) January 4, 2013 2) July 19, 2013 3) November 2, 2014 The loss of assessment capability is reportable to the NRC within 8 hours9.259259e-5 days
0.00222 hours
1.322751e-5 weeks
3.044e-6 months
of discovery in accordance with 10 CFR 50.72 (b)(3)(xiii) This report is required per 10 CFR 50.72(1)(1)(ii) as an event that occurred within 3 years of the date of discovery. The NRC Resident Inspector has been notified. Notified the R3DO (Valos). |
