Title	Agreement State Report - Stolen Troxler Moisture Density Gauge
Event Description	[The State of Florida] received [a] report from company's RSO at 1030 hrs today that a soil moisture density gauge and case were stolen yesterday July 1st at 1830 hrs from a truck parked in a lot near the MIC Earlington Heights jobsite in Miami. FL. Thief or thieves apparently used bolt cutters or other device to cut chain used to secure transportation locked box which contained said gauge, then took both transportation box and gauge. Miami-Dade police were contacted (case# PD 100701276792). The licensee will offer a reward for information helping in the recovery. The incident was assigned to the Miami Inspection office for investigation. This office will take no further action on this incident. The Troxler gauge (Model 3440; S/N 23094) contained 40 mCi AmBe and 8 mCi Cs-137. Florida Incident Number: FL10-079 THIS MATERIAL EVENT CONTAINS A "LESS THAN CAT 3" LEVEL OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL Sources that are "Less than IAEA Category 3 sources," are either sources that are very unlikely to cause permanent injury to individuals or contain a very small amount of radioactive material that would not cause any permanent injury. Some of these sources, such as moisture density gauges or thickness gauges that are Category 4, the amount of unshielded radioactive material, if not safely managed or securely protected, could possibly - although it is unlikely - temporarily injure someone who handled it or were otherwise in contact with it, or who were close to it for a period of many weeks.
