Licensee Event Report 2015-001-00, "Both Trains of Residual Heat Removal Inoperable Due to Circumferential Crack on a Socket Weld,"

dated March 2, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15061A548)

Dear Commissioners and Staff:

In the above reference, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) submitted a Licensee Event Report (LER) for Unit 1 regarding both trains of residual heat removal being inoperable as the result of seepage from a socket weld. In the referenced letter, PG&E indicated that it would provide an LER supplement by May 8, 2015, which would include the event cause and corrective action upon completion of the root cause evaluation.

PG&E is still performing detailed analysis necessary to complete the root cause evaluation. This analysis will require data to be gathered during the next Unit 1 refueling outage scheduled for October 2015. Based on the current plan for completion, PG&E will submit the LER supplement no later than January 28, 2016.

PG&E makes no new or revised regulatory commitments (as defined by NEI 99-04) in this letter.
