Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Numbers 50-413 and 50-414 License Amendment Request (LAR) for Measurement Uncertainty Recapture (MUR) Power Uprate
Reference:
Letter from Duke Energy to NRC, same subject, dated June 23, 2014 The reference letter submitted a LAR for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses (FOLs) for Catawba Nuclear Station (CNS) Units 1 and 2 NPF-35 and NPF-52 and the subject Technical Specifications (TS) to support a MUR power uprate for Catawba Unit 1. On page A1-2 of the reference letter, Duke Energy made a licensee commitment to evaluate 50 equipment IDs and 40 enclosures containing 21 individual component types encompassing 330 total components for post-MUR Equipment Qualification (EQ) conditions. The completion date for this commitment was stated as prior to implementation of the MUR power uprate. The specific types of components to be evaluated per this commitment were listed on page E2-28 of the reference letter.
On August 18, 2014, a telephone conference call was held between Duke Energy and NRC representatives concerning this commitment. During the conference call, Duke Energy indicated that this commitment had been completed and that the results of the evaluation were acceptable for post-MUR EQ conditions. The purpose of this letter is to formally docket the completion of this commitment and the acceptability of the committed evaluation. The documentation relative to the completion of this commitment has been formally accepted by Catawba.
There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter.
