SUBJECT:

ISFSI Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station Docket Nos. 50-271, 72-59 License No. DPR-28

Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.44(d)(3), Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VY} hereby submits the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) annual effluent report for the previous calendar year.

By design, the seal welded storage canisters of the Holtec HI-STORM 100 Cask System used at VY -do not create any radioactive materials or have any radioactive material effluents. The seal welded storage system design provides assurance that there are no radioactive effluent release pathways from the storage casks.

This letter documents that there were no radioactive effluents discharged or released from the VY ISFSI and therefore no ISFSl-specific data to report for calendar year 2017.

There are no new regulatory commitments being made in this submittal.

Should you have any questions concerning this submittal, please contact me at (802) 451-3374.

Sincerely, t~
