Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with 10 CFR 71.101(f), Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy) requests renewal of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program Approval for Radioactive Material Packages for Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VY). The current Approval Number is 0907, Revision 2, which expires on May 31, 2015 and was provided in Reference (1).

To support the transition of VY to a decommissioning facility, VY has established a site specific Entergy Vermont Yankee Quality Assurance Program Manual (VY-QAPM) using the Entergy QAPM as the basis. The VY-QAPM, Revision 0, was submitted in Reference (2). Reference (2) also notified the NRC of the intention to apply the VY-QAPM to those activities specified in Reference (1).

The QA Program for Radioactive Material Packages is included in the VY-QAPM as stated in Section A.1 .c of Enclosure (1) to Reference (2). The current revision of the VY-QAPM is Revision 3, with an effective date of January 19, 2015. Changes to the VY-QAPM incorporated via Revisions 1, 2 and 3 were administrative, reference and organizational position description changes necessitated by the plants transition to permanent shutdown, evaluated in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(a) and determined to represent no reduction in commitment.

BVY 15-033 / Page 2 of 2 Entergy requests a prompt review of this request for renewal of the Quality Assurance Program Approval for Radioactive Material Packages for VY for a ten-year period, on the basis that the program will expire on May 31, 2015 and that no shipping of radioactive material packages from the site will be allowed after that date until the renewal is received.

This letter contains no new regulatory commitments.
