PLANNED CONTINGENCY FOR INTERIM COMPENSATORY MEASURE DUE TO HURRICANE Ladies and Gentlemen:
On September 17, 2003, Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc. (PEC) Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) personnel participated in a conference call with J. Shea and other members of the NRC staff to discuss a planned contingency to Order Modifying License dated February 25, 2002, (EA-02-026), Attachment 2, Interim Compensatory Measure B.2.b due to severe weather associated with Hurricane Isabel. The intent is to provide compensatory measures that are greater than or equal to the current measures in place to meet the requirement referenced above.
This contingency will be implemented, if required, to ensure the safety of personnel performing duties during the storm. The details of the planned contingency were discussed with the NRC resident inspectors and NRC staff during the conference call.
