BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLAN't, MNIT NOS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324/LICENSC NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 LICENSED OPERATOR REQUALIFICATION SIMULATOR TRAINING HOURS l

Gentlemen:

In a letter dated June 28,1990 (NLS-90-132), Carolina Polver & Light (CP&L) Company responded to a Confirmation of Actions Letter concerning licensed operator requalification program deficiencies at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Unit Nos. I and 2. In this response, CP&L committed to provide a minimum of 16 hours1.851852e-4 days
0.00444 hours
2.645503e-5 weeks
6.088e-6 months
of simulator training per quarter perlicensed operator.

Consistent with the NRC's systems approach to training (SAT) process for operatar initial and requalification training, CP&L is revising this commitment. Rather than prosiding a minimum

(

number of quarterly simulator training hours, CP&L will provide simulator training for each licensed operator, in accordance with identified needs, as part of the evaluation element of the SAT process as defined in 10 CFR 55.4. This may result in more or less than 16 hours1.851852e-4 days
0.00444 hours
2.645503e-5 weeks
6.088e-6 months
of simulator training per quarter, dependent upon individual circumstances. In April 1997, the BSEP's SAT based licensed operator requalification program had accreditation renewed by the National Nuclear Accrediting Board.

Please refer any questions regarding this submittal to Mr. Warren J. Dorman, Supervisor - Licensing, at (910) 457-2068.
