This letter provides information regarding licensed operator qualification programs. Brunswick Steam Electric Plant's (BSEP), Unit Nos.1 and 2 licensed operator replacement and requalification programs were initially accredited by the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) in May,1985, and the accreditation was renewed in 1989 and 1993.
CP&L certifies, consistent with Generic Letter 87-07, "Information Transmittal of Final Rulemaking for Revisions to Operator Licensing - 10 CFR 55 and Conforming Amendments,"
that the current training programs are both accredited and based upon a systematic approach to training (SAT). BSEP maintains SAT based, INPO accredited licensed operator replacement and requalification programs, that respectively meet the requirements of 10 CFR 55.31 or 10 CFR 55.59. This is documented in BSEP's Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR),
section 13.2.2, " Replacement and Retraining."
