Gentlemen!

The following fire protection Limiting Condition for. Operation informational '

summary is the result of a major outage project being performed in ^;he Unit 2 Reactor-Building.

With Unit-2 in Cold Shutdown to support the Unit outage started on April 21, 1992,:2. Flexible boot seal.(fire seal) Jas to be removed to support inspections

'and repairs to the High Pressure Coolant Injection (HPCI)' steam line supports.

At 0130 on July 6,-1992, this fire barrier penetration seal (R2-2-054) in the Unit 2 Reactor Building Emergency Core Cooling System piping pseetration room was declared inoperable.

The seven day. Technical Specifica'* u Fire -' Barrier Penetrations Limiting Condition for _ Operation (LCO) was expectcl a expire prior to completion of the HPCI steam line repairs and would require the submission of this Special Report.-

As the fire. detectors on at least one side of the penetration were operable an hourly fire watch was stationed and remains in place pending replacement of the seal.

The'LCO-expired on July 13, 1992, with the repairs expected to continue into August of 1992.
