SUBJECT:

Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72

Dear Sir:

Florida power Corporation (FPC) would like to inform you of additional actions taken with regard to assuring adequate supervisory review of completed procedures.

FPC management recognizes the need for improvement in this area.

An evaluation of the supervisory review process is underway.

Until the evaluation is complete and conclusions are established, the following interim actions are being taken, j

1) A dedicated reviewer has been assigned to review operations procedures prior to trans-mittal to Records Management.
2) Review errors are being evaluated in order to determine effectiveness of corrective actions.

l

3) A training program will be developed and administered to Operations personnel responsi-ble for reviewing completed procedures.
4) Positive discipline and additional training is being administered to selected Operations I

reviewers.

When the Operations section is sufficiently staffed to achieve a six-shif t rotation, the relief shift will perform procedure reviews prior to procedure transmittal to Records Management.

Sincerely E. C. Simpson Director, Nuclear Operations Site Support ECS:LMG cc:
