Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC that Florida Power Corporation (FPC) is extending a commitment due date. In References 1 and 2, FPC discussed the "B" Once Through Steam Generator (OTSG) Tube Surveillance Program. FPC made a commitment to submit an operational assessment for the first span pit-like intergranular attack (IGA), within 90 days following plant restart. Crystal River Unit 3 (CR-3) restarted on February 2,1998, therefore, the operational assessment is required to be submitted by May 2,1998. Technical reviews necessary for the assessment are currently in progress, but will not be completed in time to support the May 2,1998 submittal date.
Therefore, FPC is extending the commitment date to May 28,1998.
If you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact Ms. Sherry Bernhoft, Manager, Nuclear Licenshg, at (352) 563-4566.
Sincerely, J. S.
