NRC MONTHLY OPERATING REPORT OPERATING
SUMMARY
JANUARY 1986 UNIT ONE Unit One started the month operating at 89.6% power.
The unit was limited to this power due to a high level in the "A" steam generator.
At 0425 hours0.00492 days <br />0.118 hours <br />7.027116e-4 weeks <br />1.617125e-4 months <br /> on the fifth of January power was reduced to 57% to repair a leaking drain line on a moisture separator reheater.
The unit returned to 89% power at 0200 hours0.00231 days <br />0.0556 hours <br />3.306878e-4 weeks <br />7.61e-5 months <br /> on the sixth.
At 1625 hours0.0188 days <br />0.451 hours <br />0.00269 weeks <br />6.183125e-4 months <br /> on the twelfth, power was reduced and held at about 45% while main feedwater pump problems were corrected.
Tha unit returned to 88% power at 1915 hours0.0222 days <br />0.532 hours <br />0.00317 weeks <br />7.286575e-4 months <br /> on the thirteenth.
The #1 emergency diesel generator (EDG) was tested for operability on the thirteenth.
During the test, the diesel lost oil pressure and tripped.
The
- 1 EDG was subsequently declared inoperable.
An inspection of the #1 EDG showed the need for a prolonged repair and therefore AP&L management decided to take the unit off line.
At 1220 on the fifteenth, the power reduction was initiated.
The unit was taken off line at 0313 hours0.00362 days <br />0.0869 hours <br />5.175265e-4 weeks <br />1.190965e-4 months <br /> on the sixteenth and remained off line through the end of the month.

ANNUAL REPORT OF SAFETY VALVE AND RELIEF VALVE FAILURES AND CHALLENGES This annual report is submitted in the January Monthly Operating Report in response to requirements implemented as a result of NUREG-0737, Item II.K.3.3 and to fulfill Technical Specification reporting requirements (TS 6.12.2.4 for Unit 1 and TS 6.9.1.5.c for Unit 2).
For AN0-1, no challenges to the primary system code safeties nor electromatic relief valve (ERV) have o: curred in the year 1985.
- However, the ERV was manually opened during transients which occurred on 4/9/85, 5/31/85, 6/27/85, 9/2/85 and 11/22/85, in an effort to avert a reactor trip on high RCS pressure.
The ERV opened and closed successfully upon demand.
For AN0-2, no challenges to the primary system code safeties have occurred in the year 1985.
AN0-2 does not have an ERV.
