Failure to Evaluate Material Acceptability for a Safety-Related Doorstop

Description

A self-revealed Green finding and associated Non-Cited Violation of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion III was identified when the licensee failed to evaluate the suitability of material prior to installation in the plant. Specifically, the licensee installed a doorstop, which was fabricated from a length of Unistrut, behind a safety-related door. The Unistrut was not suitable for the application and caused the door to become wedged open.
