| Description | Technical Specification 5.7.2, High Radiation Areas with Dose Rates Greater than 1.0 Rem/Hour at 30 Centimeters from the Radiation Source or from Any Surface Penetrated by the Radiation, But Less than 500 Rads/Hour at 1 Meter from the Radiation Source or from any Surface Penetrated by the Radiation, requires, in part, that each entryway to such an area shall be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area. Such barricades may be opened as necessary to permit entry or exit of personnel or equipment. Contrary to the above, on March 12, 2014, radwaste operators found that the south east steam generator bio-wall cage door, a locked high radiation area, was open and not locked. The licensee documented this issue as CR-PLP-2014-02083, Radwaste Operators Found a Locked High Radiation Area Gate Left Open, dated March 13, 2014. The finding was determined to be of very low safety significance (Green) because it was not an ALARA planning issue; there was no overexposure, nor substantial potential for an overexposure; and the licensees ability to assess dose was not compromised. |
