| ENS 50830 | 18 February 2015 16:01:00 | At 1406 (EST) Nine Mile Point Unit 2 inserted a manual scram due to rapidly rising reactor water level. The cause of the rapidly rising water prior to the manual scram is unknown and under investigation. Reactor water level is currently being maintained in normal control band post scram. The reactor scram is reportable in accordance with 10 CFR 50.72(b)(2)(iv)(B) as, 'Any event or condition that results in actuation of the reactor protection system (RPS) when the reactor is critical.' The NRC Resident has been notified. All rods fully inserted. Nine Mile Point Unit 2 is in a normal electrical shutdown configuration. The licensee reported no impact on Unit 1. The New York State Public Service Commission was also notified. |
