Safeguards clearance for court reporter
Dear Ms. Smith,
I am an attorney for the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League, which has intervened in a license amendment case involving the Catawba nuclear power plant. On Tuesday, December 7, I am scheduled to take a deposition of a Duke Energy Corporation employee at the Catawba plant.
I have arranged with Neal Gross and Co. to have court reporter Edward Johns make a transcript of the deposition. I believe Mr. Johns has recorded a number of closed sessions involving safeguards information, in the same proceeding.
Duke has asked for written confirmation that Mr. Johns has the appropriate clearance to record a safeguards deposition. Please provide that confirmation, and copy it to the other parties that are copied on this message.
