| Title | Offsite Notification Due to Cuban Nationals Landing on Owners Controlled Area |
| Event Description | At 1328 [EST] on 11/26/09, the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Station Control Room received a call from an individual stating that he was a member of a group of Cuban nationals that had landed in the Turkey Point cooling canals. The individual reported that 33 Cuban nationals total (29 adults and 4 children) were in the cooling canal system. The Turkey Point Nuclear control room notified Turkey Point Nuclear Security, who located and assumed control over the Cuban nationals without incident. Turkey Point Nuclear Security notified local law enforcement agency (Miami-Dade Police), requesting assistance. At 1425 [EST], Miami-Dade Police arrived on site. United States Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were notified by Miami-Dade Police.
This event is being reported under 10CFR50.72(b)(2)(xi), for an event requiring notification to a government agency. The licensee has informed the NRC Resident Inspector. |
