==Dear Commissioners and Staff:==

On March 7, 2018, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) withdrew the license renewal application (LRA) for Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) Units 1 and 2, and all associated correspondence and commitments (Reference 1). The U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) granted PG&E's request to withdraw the LRA, and all associated correspondence and commitments in a letter dated April 16, 2018 (Reference 2). PG&E's decision to withdraw the LRA was based on the determination that the continued baseload operation of the two DCPP units beyond the currently approved operating period~ is not necessary to meet PG&E's projected energy demand requirements. This decision was also in support of the state policy to meet California future electricity needs with renewable generation resources. This resource planning decision was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission in Decision 18-01-022, dated January 11, 2018.
Therefore, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(a)(1 )(i) and 10 CFR 50.4(b )(8), PG&E certifies that it will permanently cease power operations at DCPP, Units 1 and 2 on November 2, 2024, and August 26, 2025, respectively. This certification to permanently cease operations at DCPP Unit 2 on August 26, 2025, is dependent on an action by the California State Water Board that would allow Unit 2 to continue to A member of the STARS Alliance Callaway
