No: 15-053 August 21, 2015 CONTACT: Dave McIntyre, 301-415-8200 NRC to Hold Public Meetings in Maryland and Nevada on Yucca Mountain Environmental Report Supplement The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will hold a series of public meetings at agency headquarters in Rockville, Md., and in Nevada to seek public comment on a supplement to the r a proposed geologic high-level nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain. groundwater and from surface discharges of groundwater, was released on Aug. 13. The public comment period begins today, with publication of a notice in the Federal Register and ends Oct. 20. The NRC staff will hold a public conference call Aug. 26 from 2-3 p.m. Eastern Time to explain how to submit comments. Call-in information is available on the NRC website. Procedures for submitting Federal Register notice. will be held Sept. 3 from 3-5 p.m. at NRC Headquarters, Commission Hearing Room, 11555 Rockville Pike in Rockville. Call-in and webcast information will be available on the Page for anyone unable to attend in person. Two subsequent meetings will be held in Nevada on Sept. 15 at the Embassy Suites Convention Center, 3600 Paradise Road in Las Vegas, and Sept. 17 at the Amargosa Community Center, 821 E. Amargosa Farm Road, in Amargosa Valley. Both meetings will run from 7-9 p.m. Pacific Time. NRC staff members will be available for an open house for one hour before each of the Nevada meetings to meet informally with members of the public. On Oct. 15, the NRC staff will conduct a final public meeting by conference call, from 2-4 p.m. Eastern Time. Phone line information will be posted on the Public Meetings Page.
