ISSUANCE OF SUBSEQUENT RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 FOR VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1
Dear Eric S. Carr:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-12 to Dominion Energy South Carolina, Inc. (DESC), for Virgil C.
Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (V.C. Summer or VCSNS) (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML25120A068). The NRC issued the subsequent renewed facility operating license upon completion of its review of your application dated August 17, 2023 (Package ML23233A175), as supplemented by letters dated April 1, 2024 (ML24095A207), May 6, 2024 (ML24129A200), May 30, 2024 (ML24155A146),
June 17, 2024 (ML24171A015) and October 24, 2024 (ML24302A144).
The Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-12 for V.C Summer will expire at midnight on August 6, 2062.
The technical basis for issuing the subsequent renewed facility operating license for V.C.
Summer is set forth in Final Safety Evaluation to the SLRA of Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1, Revision 1, issued March 2025 (ML25062A234). Enclosure 1 to this letter contains Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-12 and Technical Specifications for V.C. Summer. No changes were made to the Technical Specifications as a result of this subsequent license renewal.
The NRC staffs evaluation of the environmental impacts of continued operation under the subsequent renewed license is provided in Enclosure 2, Record of Decision (ML25120A069) to this letter and in NUREG-1437, Supplement 15, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants: Regarding Subsequent License Renewal for Virgil C.
Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1, Final Report, issued May 2025 (ML25128A160). provides a copy of the related Federal Register notice of issuance of the subsequent renewed license (ML25120A070) as sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
