On September 29, 2023, Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (CEG) requested amendments to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-72 and NPF-77 for Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2 (Braidwood); Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-37 and NPF-66 for Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 (Byron) as documented in Reference
- 1.
CEG requested approval of the proposed license amendment request by September 30, 2024.
CEG stated that once approved, the amendment would be implemented within 90 days.
The intent was to implement at both units of each station at one time within 90 days. However, CEG has determined that due to outage schedules at Braidwood and Byron a 90-day implementation is not practical and, as such, is requesting 120 days to implement this amendment.
CEG has reviewed the information supporting the finding of no significant hazards consideration, and the environmental consideration that were previously provided to the NRC.
January 15, 2025 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 The additional information provided in this submittal does not affect the bases for concluding that the proposed license amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration. In addition, the information provided in this submittal does not affect the bases for concluding that neither an environmental impact statement nor an environmental assessment needs to be prepared in connection with the proposed amendment.
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.91, "Notice for public comment; State consultation,"
paragraph (b), CEG is notifying the State of Illinois of this application for license amendment by transmitting a copy of this letter to the designated State Official.
There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter. Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Ms. Lisa Zurawski at (779) 231-6796.
I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on the 1th day of January 2025.
