SRM-SECY-12-025 - Recommendation 2.1 : Perform design-basis external hazards reevaluations using present-day methodologies and guidance:

  • Tier 1: Seismic, flooding hazards.
  • Tier 2: Other external hazards.

-> The CC3 COLA uses the latest guidance for evaluating the external hazards (CEUS seismic input data soil loads flood possibilities extreme wind and tornado loads Issues related to Calvert Cliffs Ultimate Heat Sink Makeup.

UHS Fukushima considerations seismic input data, soil loads, flood possibilities, extreme wind and tornado loads, missiles and temperatures ), and for assessing the related plant protection (GDC 2).

-> In response to 50.54 (f) letter, operating plants would apply hazard assessment methodology and insights being used for COL applications.

SRM-SECY-12-025 - Recommendation 4.2: Mitigation strategy for beyond-design-basis external events:

  • Maintain and restore core cooling, containment and spent fuel pool cooling capabilities in case of a simultaneous loss of all AC power and loss of normal access to the UHS.

-> Following a beyond-design external event, the CC3 Mitigation Strategy takes credit of installed and portable equipment, that does not depend on the UHS makeup availability.
