VZ AO October 24, 1989 Mr. Gary M. Holahan, Acting Director Division of Reactor Projects - III, IV, V and Special Projects Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555
Dear Mr. Holahan:
In today's "Los Angeles Times" I read that Orange County and eleven other government and private agencies joined in a practice emergency drill on Monday, October 23, 1989, at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
The article stated that the drill was evaluated by the NRC which would "prepare a written report on Monday's drill."
One of the reasons for this letter is to request a copy of this written report when it is completed if it is something the public is allowed to have.
One would assume this drill was a result of the earthquake in the Bay area.
This may be an incorrect assumption on my part but it would seem logical.
On May 15, 1989 you were kind enough to send me a copy of the order to Southern California. Edison relative to the NRC' s review of the reactor vessel water level instrument at San Onofre Unit No. 1.
The order stated that "Specific plans for implementation shall be submitted to NRC for approval by no later than December 1, 1989."
I realize we haven't reached that date as yet, but can you tell me the status *f the Southern California Edison's plans to com ply with the NRC order?
Many thanks.
Sincerely, (Mrs.) Betty Geismar P.
