A routine,

unannounced

inspection

was conducted

at the Ginna station

on January

8 -

12 1990, to review implementation of the Radiation Protection

Program

and

preparations

for the upcoming refueling outage.

Areas reviewed included

organization

and management,

audits

and appraisals,

training, external

exposure

controls

and the

ALARA program.

Within the scope of the above review,

no violations were identified. Generally,

station

management

have

been responsive

to

NRC concerns

in the past.

An

exception to this was noted during this inspection concerning

the station policy

of allowinq individuals to eat

and drink in the chemistry laboratory.

This had

'een

ident>fied

as

an

NRC concern during

a previous inspection,

however station

management

had not taken action to resolve this matter.

This practice is not

cons'ostent

with generally

accepted

industry standards.
