On July 17-21,
1989,
NRC conducted
a fire protection inspection of activities
authorized
by NRC Licenses
DPR-52 and
DPR-68 for your Browns Ferry
Nuclear Plant Units 1,
2 and 3.
This inspection consisted of a review of
TVA's compliance with the fire protection requirements
of Section III.G
and III.J of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R.
The enclosed
Inspection Report details the scope,
areas
examined,
and
results of the inspection.
One unresolved
item and five inspector
follow-up
items are identified in the enclosed report.
Before restart,
we will require
a commitment to modify the fire area
boundary identified in the unresolved
item.
Resolution of the inspector follow-up items is also required before
restart.
In addition,
one inspector follow-up item from Inspection Report 50-259/89-13,
50-260/89-13
and 50-296/89-13
has
been resolved.
In accordance
with Section 2.790 of the
NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10,
Code of Federal
Regulations,
a copy of this letter and its enclosure
wi11 be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
