The fiuclear Regulatory Commission very much appreciates your open offer of assistance with the Three Mile Island incident. We will, of course, con-tinue to keep you advised of all significant developments.
To assure this, I have asked the staff to provide Joe Lafleur with early copies of al? TMI incident-related reports that f;RC prepares in the coming months for prompt transmittal to you.
I believe your offer to share lessons learned from the rehabilitation of the fiRX Research Reactor following its 1952 accident, and other AECL clean-up experience, could be helpful to us.
- n addition, we have contacted Mr. Ben Rusche, Director of the industrial Waste Management Group at TMI responsible for the clean-up operation, concerning yoJr offer.
He also is interested in a briefing and would like to discuss this me.tter with you further. Mr.

I have also notified the Energy Technology Division of the Department of Energy which has expressed interest in participating in the meeting to brief the Cormiission when scheduled.
Thank you for keeping us advised of AECB-AECL discussions with Canadian utility personnel on the need to review CANDU reactor designs and operating procedures in light of TMI.
I agree that an exchange of such analyses would be beneficial, and I suggest that we hold a technical meeting on this as soon as the pertinent conclusions of our various studies are available.
In the meanwhile, each of us should continue to supply all new documents, reports and any other new information that can be of safety significance to the other.
I hope that during, or soon after, the current Three Mile Island activities, you will have tne oppurtunity to visit us in Washington, and that NRC and the AECB can soon conclude our discussions about a long-term arrangement for cooperation in regulatory information 1 exchange.
