Subject:
Future FSAR Submittals Gentlemen:
I In Reference (b), New Hampshire Yankee (NHY) provided a schedule for 3
amending the FSAR through submission of the updated FSAR which we committed to submit within twenty-four months of issuas.ce of a low power operating license. The NRC approved this schedule in Reference _(c).
The low power' operating license was issued on May 26, 1989, and NHY will-submit the Updated FSAR on or before May 26, 1991.
Amendment 62 (Reference (d)) was then submitted on June 30, 1989.
In Reference (e), the NRC performed a safety evaluation on the revisions contained in Amendment 62 and concluded that they were acceptable.
i New Hampshire Yankee will submit the next of these FSAR amendments
{
(Amendment 63) on or before March 15, 1990.
{
New Hampshire Yankee feels that it is prudent to submit Amendment 63 after issuance of a full power operating license so that the'FSAR reflects the latest plant procedures and technical specifications and that any requirements accompanying the licenso and any changes necessitated by the Power Ascension Test Program are appropriately included.

l New Hampshire Yankee notes that the changes currently identified for j
inclusion in Amendment 63 are either minor in nature or have been identified in prior correspondence and/or discussions with the NRC Staff. Additionally, j
NHY submits, on a quarterly basis, sunanary descriptions of its 10CTR50.59 evaluations, that further ensure that the NRC is kept appraised of changes j
to the plant.
The FSAR revisions meet NRC acceptance criteria and do not alter the staff's previous conclusions provided in the original Safety
)
Evaluation Report or its supplements.
