Reactor Oversight Process Enhancement Security The NRCs security baseline inspections at U.S. nuclear power plants cover topics including physical protection security systems and related training and procedures. The Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) enhancement process has enhanced security inspections to emphasize areas that are more risk signi"cant, as well as combining similar inspection activities for greater ef"ciency. The process used the signi"cance determination process (SDP) to ensure a plants entire physical protection program is considered as part of inspection "ndings.
Background
Staff enhanced the security SDP to account for all layers of the plants security program, including the concept of defense-in-depth. These revisions will focus inspection and oversight on the areas of most significant security risks.
Staff enhanced the security inspection program to ensure resources are directed toward the most risk-significant security areas. These revisions include changing the frequency of some inspections and combining of similar inspections in like areas.
Changes Implemented by Staff Revised Baseline Security SDP Revised Security Inspection Program Staff will continue to evaluate the revised inspection and assessment programs to ensure the revisions provide a consistent framework of policies and guidance.
