Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 - 460-V MOTOR DOCUMENTATION -

SQRD-50-328/81 SECOND INTERIM REPORT The subject deficiency was initially reported to NCR-0IE Inspector R. V. Crlenjak on April 13, 1981 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) as NCR SQN EEB 8115. Our first interim report containing justification for interim operation was submitted on April 28, 1981. We expect to submit our next repet by November 17, 1981.

TVA is still in the process of contacting the vendors of the motors in question to determine if they can start with 85 percent of rated voltage at their terminals. A reevaluation shows that there are 142 affected motors instead of 111 as mentioned in the first interim report.

Tentative information has been received on 23 of these motors with vendor information requests pending on the remaining motors.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please get in touch with D. L. Lambert at FTS 857-2581.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY L. M. Mills, Manager Nuclear Regulation and Safety 8
