In a letter dated April 29, 1993, Duke Power made a commitment to correct the Keowee zone overlap single failure vulnerability.
Currently, administrative controls prohibit the single failure.
The modification to correct the problem is under review by the NRC.
Following receipt of NRC approval, the modification will be implemented within 30 days.
This is the only commitment remaining from the 4
corrective actions for the October 19, 1992 Loss of Offsite J
Power.
The original completion date was 12/31/94 and it was l
extended to 3/1/95.
This is the second extension of this commitment date.

The response dated July 6, 1993 to the findings in Inspection
)
Report 50-269,-270 87/93-02 included a commitment to perform a design study to determine the optimum configuration of the various Keowee unit trips (Finding 5B).
This design l
study is in progress and is part of the Emergency Power project.
Since this commitment is part of the project, the expected completion date for this commitment is 6/1/95.
This is the second extension from the original completion date of 3/30/94.

In addition, commitments to Findings 2F and 2H are tied to the implementetion of the modification currently under review by the NRC.
These commitments involve the review of frequency effects on the Keowee Auxiliary loads and Oconee
-t safety loads following a Keowee load rejection.
Currently, i
the effects of overfrequency are prevented by administrative methods.
These reviews will be completed within 30 days l
following receipt of NRC approval for the modification.
This
