COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES) - UNIT 1 DOCKET NO. 50 445 TRANSMITTAL OF REVISION 4 0F THE UNIT 1 INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM Plea Rtc:
NRC letthr dated February 8. 1991 to Mr. William J. Cahill, Jr. from Mr. G; E Dick Gentlemen:
Enc!osure 1 contains the revised pages for Revision 4 to the Unit 1 Inservice Testie.g (IST) Progrem Plan (Copy 405 and 406). contains a line by-lins description of each change to the IST program in a format identical to tnat provided for changes to the Finc1 Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
The referenced letter granted interim approval of a relief reque';t which provided relief from the full flow testing requirements of the Residual Heat Removal (RHR) pump discharge check valves.
The interim approval was granted, until the scheduled Unit 1 refueling outage, to provide sufficient time to evaluate the use of an alternate flow path that would permit full flow te' ting.
This flow path could be used during cold shutdown to test the RHR discharge check valves, as well as the RHR pump suction check valves.
The RHR suction valves had previously been granted interim relief from the full ficw test requirements.
The alternate flow path has been evaluated and found to be acceptable for full flow testing of the s'ibject check valves during cold shutdown. Therefore the relief reques+.J for the RHR pump discharge and suction check valves are hereby withdrawn.
The previously approved relief request for the RPR pump suction check valves is deleted from the IST Program Plan by enclosed Revision 4 Revision 4 also adds the full flow testing of the RHR pump suction and discharge check valves during cold shutdown.
