OPERATIONS

SUMMARY

J ANUARY.1988 The unit ertered January operating at 100% power. The plant continued operating at 100% power until Janutry 31, 1988.

On January 31 power was reduced to approximately 75% to supp?rt repair of the "A" Main Feedwater (MFW) pump co6pling. The plant was returned to 100% power within 10 hours1.157407e-4 days
0.00278 hours
1.653439e-5 weeks
3.805e-6 months
, i4AJOR_,53fETY REi.ATED MAINTENANCE During the month of Janviry, TPS Unit 1 perfortesd the following major maintenance:

Liquid 'J39te Disposal System pipe Rep'acement - During the month of January, a leaking pipe section t3ETEMalvesWDL-7517nd WDL-V-361 was replaced. The leak was a crack in a pipe section at a 90* elbow by diaphragm valve WDL-V-61.

In order te isolate the pipe and still have the capability to add borated water to the Makeup Tank (MU-T !!.. check valve WDL-Y-361 was required to be used as an isolation valve.

A Temporary Mechanical Modification was approved and a globe valve bonnet was installed on WDL-V-361 to isolate the piping.

Interference items (insulation, heat trace, conduit, etc.) were rencved, the piping drained and the piping cut out. The pipe was prepped and a new elbow and piping fit-up and welded in. All NDE inspections were satisf actory. Check valve WDL-Y-361 was restored to its original configuration and an Operational leak test of the affected piping was perforned with satisfactory result *

.nterference items were reinstalled and the system was returned to service.

Main Steam Yalve MS-Y Main steam atmospheric dump valve MS-Y-4B was remved f 6W service Tn January to repair seat leakage.

The valve operator was disconnected and the bonnet / operator removed from the valve body.

Inspection revealed c;ts across the valve seating surface.

The cuts were lapped out and the valve reassembled. Post Maintenance testing was parformed and ndnor leakage was detectec.

No further repairs to MS-Y-48 are scheduled.
