Gentlemen:

The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Com:nssion (NRC) has speciff ed, in Sections 75.34, 74.15, 74.13, 70.54 and 40.64 of 10 CFR Parts 75, 74, 70 and 40, and in associated repo:* ting instructions, requirements for submittal to the NRC of material transfer reports whenever certain transfers of special nuclear material or source material occur. Reports are required for any transfer, recaipt or inventory change of I gram or more of conteined U-233, U-235 or

or thorium of any origin.

l The NRC utilizes an electronic data processing system to record these reports.

All licensees subject to these reporting requirements have been assigned a three-letter symbol for identification. This Reporting Identification Symbol (RIS) should be used in completing the transfer forms (DOE /NRC-741) in accord-ance with the instructions, and should be used in inventory reports and other correspondence with the NRC relative to such reports.

The symbol XCO has been assigned as the RIS for activities under License Nos.

SNM-1974 and 22 16791-01.
