Dear Mr. Johnson:
On July 19, 1985, we verbally notified your Mr. D. Powell of a deficiency regarding the Unit 1 steam generator upper lateral restraint embedment design.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our last interim report was logged TXX-4877, dated June 27, 1986. On August 15, 1986, we requested and received an extension until August 18, 1986, in submitting this report from your Mr. D.
Hunnicutt.
Our evaluation of this issue has been expanded to address the comments of the third-party review organization (TERA) and Stone and Webster Engineering (SWEC). We anticipate submitting our next report by November 3, 1986.
